I have worked so incredibly hard mentally, emotionally, spiritually for me not to celebrate my hard work. That is why I had decided to do a private launch party for RubiReadings.com. I wanted to be able to celebrate my progress as a healer, reader, teacher, guide and supporter for all business woman. So here is a little insight on how I celebrated and collaborated with talented individuals.

Castle Realty Partners, Inc provided a perfect space to host my event surrounded by pure nature, natural settings, buddhas everywhere and magical energy. They also gave out cute gift bags for guests. These woman are behind my vision as a business owner. They have taught me to keep pushing and persevere aside from any setbacks or challenges in life.

When I meditated on this event I had a vision to showcase individuals that truly uplift me and I admire their talent but there is one thing that I absolutely do not have the energy to do and that is coordinate it. I was blessed to have the best coordinator who took charge since day one, who was passionate in curating this event with me and who not only served thee best fresh Cucumber Margaritas but who invested so much of her time and energy to make sure everything flowed effortlessly. So thank you, Lucia Calderon, Owner of LC Special Events.

Setting the tone and the ambience for any event isn’t the easiest task and that is why I asked only the best party rentals to help us out. Joy’s Party Rentals are so efficient with making sure that the initial vision is carried out throughout the course of the planning of the event until complete set-up. This day was such a test for all of us in that we experienced high winds but they were able to help and ensure that everything stayed in place. Aside from helping with the complete set-up they were exceptionally on-time with the pick-up. Thank you so much for collaborating with me and allowing me to completely depend on your items for our vendors and our guests.

We had handcrafted succulents from LA Garden! Diana dedicates her time in combining passion and art into one. Check out her page for amazing monthly boxes, stickers, magnets and support this amazing woman! She truly dedicates so much time to her craft and it shows.

When it comes to combining passion, art and beauty Amanda & Carissa, Owners of Veiled Vanity Artistry know how to master that. There is something about sitting in their chair and seeing the transformation from both inside and out come alive. For this event they were the reasons why I carried such confidence and excitement. They truly know how to make me feel beautiful. Aside from doing my hair and makeup they created a thoughtful giveaway with hair and makeup products and showcased their best work. They own the best hair & makeup agency working only with the best photographers, models, brides and grooms.

My favorite card from the traditional tarot deck is The High Priestess. She is unbelievably balanced when it comes to reality and the subconscious. She is the strongest intuitively and carries so much wisdom that she loves to share with the world. She is compassionate, a spiritual goddess and extremely generous. So when I thought of creating my own version of the High Priestess I wanted her to carry a little of Rubi Readings. Diana Oliva helped me reach this goal by titling it La Brujita Shirt…La Brujita “The Little Witch” was a reference everyone used to call me when I first began to learn Tarot and I used to be so offended because I never considered myself a witch. Learning tarot is like reading a book. However, now, I am so confident in my abilities that I could careless what people refer me as and so I decided to own up to that name. Thank you Diana for collaborating and bringing these shirts to my event!

I have watched Raquel Munoz expand her hobby of candy buffets into a high-end candy buffet business. The Sweetest Touch brings an eye-catching buffet filled with themed desserts, candies and treats. It’s her attention to detail and creativity that makes you want her candy regardless if you are a child or adult. Her passion in what she does shows and I think anybody who has worked with her can truly see her vision.

I am all about ambience and tradition and that is why when I was manifesting this event I envisioned latin music to be playing as my guests arrived and enjoyed drinking and walking around. Hans Yunda is not only musically talented, he has a kind heart and soul that is felt through his music. Without knowing his setlist it brought a smile to my face as I had recognized a lot of the songs from my childhood. I am a firm believer that if you perform with passion in your heart you will go places, and this man, will definitely be performing countless of times in front of audiences who truly appreciate his talent.

I think that a hair salon is not just a place to get your hair done but it’s a place where any man or woman can devote time to themselves. Chemo and Veronica, from Salon 1971, create a welcoming experience to anybody. They greet every soul with such big smiles and laughter. They were so kind enough to come to my event and share their products, their purpose and passion. They are always finding ways to give back and I believe this is why they were brought to create more in this lifetime aside from just making someone feel incredible. Be sure to visit their salon if you are in the Downey Area.

Jocelyn Ramos, Owner of Luna Designs, has studied anterior design and has been creating artistically since she was born. She brings her art, passion and lust for culture in her designs. She can create just about anything and everything! Recently, she has been collaborating with Annette Romo Yoga by hosting Art Workshops. She makes anyone with zero art skills feel like a professional! She brought a do-it-yourself workshop to my event where guests were able to design their own ARY makeup bag.

Aside from celebrating the launch of Rubi Readings it was also the weekend of my 33rd birthday and Baby Pastries was so sweet to surprise me with a elegant and delicious birthday cake! It is within my core to collaborate with heartwarming, compassionate and creative individuals and Wendy, Owner of Baby Pastries, brought delicious treats for my dessert table. She speaks with love and sugar but her desserts bring a traditional hispanic culture in every bite. I have tasted just about every treat she makes from her vegan donuts, bars, cookies and cakes that I absolutely never ever feel guilty afterwards. Thank you for your love for Mexico, your love for baking and for your generous heart.

These woman right here have taught me what it is like to be open to receiving. Christina and Annette are the type of woman I choose to surround myself with because they empower me, encourage me, strengthen me and show me how to work with intention. That is why we decided to bring all of our passions into our own Intention Candles. This was our soft launch for our unique candles. I have been creating intention candles as part of Set In Stone but my longterm vision was to create blends that were infused with natural herbs, essential oils and crystals. These beautiful ladies and I finally did it!

Annette Romo Yoga and myself have been collaborating for the past two years. She has this innate ability to create mindful workshops to encourage inspiration, motivation, self love, creativity and to open the door to spirituality. Her entrepreneur mindset is contagious and was the reason behind creating this event. I have such a special place for her in my heart because she has given me a platform to explore and share my gifts with those who attend her events.

Alyssa N. Griego has been producing and directing all of my Set In Stone videos and I could not be more blessed to have her in my life. She has a vision and art that sets the tone for healing, believing and intention through the camera. For this event I had asked her to perform one of her sentimental pieces of poetry. A year ago she published her first poetry book, “Sad Girl Strong Woman” It is woman like her that encourage other woman to follow their path despite their troubled past.

Food is a must at any event and I think that for this particular event I needed to have traditional tacos. Tacos are our go-to in my family and when it came to choosing somebody to partner with I could not think of anybody else but Viveros Catering. This sweet family puts so much thought and love into their meals. I felt like everyone in this event walked around with so much love because of them. They brought me the feeling that my grandma was walking around making sure everyone was fed and happy.

I watched Rosie take her passion for crystals and essential oils into a small business venture. She created the best cleansing sprays to help clear negative energy and to bring soothing energies. Rosie contributed to the special giveaways in this event by giving out cleansing sprays.

Photo props are a must at any event and for this particular event I asked my talented friend Valerie White, Owner of Blissfulhearts, to create custom photo props and signs. Signs were placed on tables for the guests to use and have fun with such as “Sage Yo’self” “Passion Pays Your Bills” “La Brujita”. Valerie has a heart of gold and is in a stage in her life where she is turning her passion into a business. She devotes most of her time running wild with her creativity and it shows.

There are people who enter your life at just the precise moment destined to hold your hand through a monumental point in your life and Mark Mestaz is one of them. I had asked him to introduce Alyssa and myself as he has been part of our triangle of healing, empowerment and growth. He surprised me with exceptionally well put together speeches where he spoke of our personal journey. He always has a way to bring me to happy tears and reminds me of the strong person I have become because to be quite honest I tend to forget that. I honor Mark’s journey and I honor our relationship as one that reminds me what unconditional love is for another being.

I am so grateful and humbled to be able to look back at this memorable moment in my life. It takes so much to put something like this together and my heart is so fulfilled. Thank you to all who attended and who have constantly shown your support whether it’s showing up to events, workshops, purchasing readings or reiki healings or for even just being a supportive friend. I appreciate you and I recognize who you are.

You are Enough

Screen Shot 2019-02-06 at 12.44.05 PM.png

I think in establishing a sense of Self Loving Foundation there are a variety of exercises, routines, physical activities and consistent affirmations needed. It actually requires so much maintenance that sometimes I feel I lack the drive to do it. As a mommy of three boys my routine gets so caught up in - “Is it lunch time?" “Who needs a diaper change?” “Why are they crying now?” - that I feel saying a daily affirmation can seem so tedious. So as a mommy of three I hope to inspire you in some of my daily practices to maintaining a self-love routine.

Why?

I’m in a period in my life where I question why I’m here now.. How did I become a single mommy of three boys? How did it go from wanting to heal the world to having changed my life suddenly to get what I want? I believe it’s all about Worth. Prior to being married I was your average mid-twenties ‘let’s go with the flow’ type of girl. If I wasn’t out with friends at a club, bar, concert I was out adventuring somewhere. I was your crazy girl. I am the first to admit that I was out of control and consciously not regretful. My intentions were always to escape. I loved life too much to feel the sadness of reality. I was also very broken. I had established a healthy routine of blocking out pain with alcohol and men. I don’t think I even understood what Worth and Value meant.

So instead of taking the time to heal the broken parts of me I indulged in escapism. I embraced any broken individual into my life for a sense of relief that I was not the only person out there hurting. It’s sad now looking back and not sharing with the world who Rubi Rios was capable of being. Because the Rubi Rios now has so much love to offer, so much inspiration to share, so much kindness and generosity to fulfill a relationship.

Forward seven years and I embraced Change. I began my spiritual journey to transform this little broken girl into a worthy woman. This is when I discovered that through my reiki healing, meditation, yoga, hiking and enjoying mother earth allowed me to wake up. I woke up and realized that this form of escapism that I was utilizing could still be applied into my daily life now but moderately and with a different perspective. (How I healed calls for a different blog and another day. But I promise I will help you in that.)

So, a divorce and a past-life relationship later I can confidently admit that I am Worthy of so much in this world. No man that has ever presented themselves up until this point has proven to me that they are worthy of standing next to me. If this sounds overly-confident I suggest this is your sign of working a little bit more on yourself to be able to repeat those words. It takes so much work to be able to feel worth, see your worth and maintain a sense of control to keep receiving your worth.

You don’t have to apply ‘worth’ to only your relationships but friendships, careers, passions, family situations and finances as well. I feel like for the past three years my Spirit Guides have been secretly testing me on this subject. I feel like they helped me practice so much self love and then threw me in this field and said, “Let’s see if she can apply all these tools to these people, these situations.”

So what did I discover in this test?

I took off all the blinders. I had realized that there were several friends who I had been putting in more than enough effort for the past 10 years or so who had never really reciprocated the amount of effort I had given them. I realized they gave me more gossip, stress, unresolved issues and judgement above all else. I was able to see that I was worthy of having healthy friendships. The type of friends that call you to give you inspiration, motivation, uplifting messages and who truly push you to be the best version of yourself.

So here’s how you can do it:

Inventory of Friends Checklist:

On a piece of paper make two columns:

Column 1: Friends

Column 2: Emotions

Write their name in Column 1. In Column 2 I want you to write down what sort of emotions does that person bring to you? (Do you feel happy? sad? stressed? anxiety? complicated? not enough? fake? )

When you have completed this entire list. I want you to process how it made you feel after. If you saw negative emotions this does not mean you completely disregard them and send them a text of ‘hey we can’t be friends” Instead, you start to distance yourself. You then start to withhold every piece of information from them as you do not need their judgements or unnecessary comments. And for the friends that bring you positive emotions you start to embrace those friendships. You then start to make more effort by calling/texting/sending them gratitude gifts. Most importantly tell them how special they are to you in your life. You will notice that there may be more friction, tension, arguments or disagreements with those friends that brought you negative emotions. You will then have to consciously make a decision to keep them or eliminate them from your life. Remember that this process needs time, healing, forgiveness and compassion so that you do not cause unnecessary karmic cycles.

Screen Shot 2019-02-06 at 12.46.51 PM.png

When it comes to romantic relationships I felt this was always quite difficult for me. I do feel that I have always fallen in love with ‘potentials’. My heart is so big that I feel when I meet somebody I can instantly see what they’re capable of becoming. I don’t know if this is the intuitive reader in me or if it’s just a trait I will always carry. I always give individuals hope, desire, fantasy and adventure. It’s in my nature. I think that the men that cross my path get so caught up in it and it feels pleasurable at the time that when reality kicks in they realize they cannot fulfill what is needed to be next to me. I don’t believe in expectations but I do believe in living the best version of yourself.

In my eyes, seeing that they can do so much, have so much potential it starts this naive ‘blinder’ that I don’t quite mess with it until my intuition says '“something is off Rubi”. I’ve learned from the heartaches, disappointments and misunderstandings that in all reality I know what I stand for. I know what my life purpose is. I know what I’m capable of achieving and if somebody can’t see that for themselves then they are not at my level. Could they possibly get there? Yes. But the ‘will they’ is never guaranteed. I absolutely do not have the time to sit there and wait. I am loving, patient and kind but if there is something I am lacking whether it be financially or personally I find solutions. If you are with somebody who doesn’t want to find a solution or won’t take the necessary steps to find the solution then you are enabling their excuses. I was with somebody who lived his life pointing fingers at others and never taking responsibility for himself. He had opinions and solutions for everyone else but would rarely sit down to think of his own solutions. In my eyes, that is somebody who does not understand what worth is. Do you realize the karmic setbacks you put yourself in when you don’t take fault for your actions? The consequences are endless. I don’t care how much I truly admire and love an individual but my worth says: Find somebody who can give you the total package because you will be held back over and over again and all of that hard-work you’re doing on your end will be an absolute waste of time.

This is where you do a pros/cons list:

In a relationship:

Column 1: Write down traits that you absolutely love from your partner

Column 2: Write down traits that you do not like from your partner

Column 3: Write down what you wish the relationship would FEEL like

Single / Dating Stage:

Column 1: Write down what you want your person to be like (look like? dress like? music they’re into?)

Column 2: What do you want the relationship to FEEL like?

This will help you see if you have blinders on, making excuses and most importantly being honest with yourself as to what you really want in a relationship.

Find a physical activity that you can be consistent to at least twice a week. Maintaining your attitude about your worth is hard. This is where consistency is key. I just recently started doing Pole Dancing Classes which, to me, are empowering. In that moment I feel sexy, desirable, happy with my body, passionate and loving. I have always enjoyed it and I am no expert but what I love most is that you don’t have to be an expert to do it. It is my moment and for nobody else. I think it’s so healthy for mommies to indulge in a little burlesque or pole dancing class to remind themselves why they became mommies in the first place ;)

Affirmations are so important! If you have a daily commute, as soon as you start your car start saying out loud positive affirmations about yourself and your day.

“I am hardworking.” “I will have a phenominal and productive day.” “I am passionate.” “I am successful.”

This helps establish the attitude and mood for your day. You can always go back to these affirmations if something happens in your day that upsets you or makes you feel doubtful. If you have kids as part of your morning routine (like myself) I strongly encourage you to do this daily so that they can then start to mimic and absorb this healthy routine. It may feel strange to them at first (as I’m sure it will for you too) but you are making them aware of their good qualities and you are building your confidence together. My children love it and they know why they love themselves!

IMG_0469.jpg

Diet, now this is where things get exceptionally difficult. Kids, work, routines, unexpected situations makes having a healthy diet so hard. But I strongly recommend you find ways to cut out dairy, meats and replace with uplifting energetic foods. Don’t take things to an extreme level but find Balance. I am not your typical ‘healthy chic’ I will have some Diet Coke and Hot Cheetos every now and then (don’t judge!) but when I do I know to expect my body to be upset with me and I don’t allow my self-esteem to get the best of me.

So there you go, that’s how I get through my days. I am still your average ‘go-with-the-flow’ girl and still meet with friends at a local bar when my kids are spending time with their dad. The only difference now is that I am out experiencing these moments to be in the present, to embrace my friends, to enjoy life rather than trying to escape it. I hope that through my honesty you were able to get some inspiration and I hope that you can benefit from my tips as well.

What is a Light Warrior?

DSC_2993.jpg

It was five years ago that I had decided to TRUSTthat something within me was changing.

That all of the knowledge, experience as Rubi Rios was transcending and initiating a small spark within my soul. A soul I had yet to discover. It was that moment that I had realized I had been walking through life with no real sense of direction and with no absolute purpose. I was a wife back then and a mother. I was doing just about what everyone here in America does…

I was an office manager, working 9-5, going home and trying to be a good wife and the best mother I could possibly be.

The Rubi Rios then had no glow, no authenticity and no realness to her sense of character.

In fact, I walked very heavily through life carrying every grudge, resentment, heartbreak and just about any disappointing situation that had occurred to me. I lived all of that every single day. I breathed it as if it was part of my daily routine. I welcomed that baggage into every relationship, every friendship and I even allowed it to be the reason why I couldn’t take responsibility for my actions, consequences and life choices.

See, life is cruel in that sense. Where we can experience such hurt, such pain and such sadness. Instead of giving it compassion, love and affection and especially forgiveness we allow our spirits to indulge in it, we welcome it and we even psychologically allow it to feel so good, so normal, that when we don’t have these negative situations occur it’s almost like we crave it.

 So one day,

I said,

Enough.

It’s time to change.

It’s time to face these fears, these disappointments and time to conquer this b**ch.

So I trustedthe process of change.

This change was absolutely excruciating. It not only allowed me to open mind, my heart and at times felt as if it was ripping my soul apart. It sounds overly dramatic, but to those who witnessed this transformation can vouch how absolutely excruciating it was for me.

My transformation, initiated by simply wanting to understand why I felt spirits and why I was this ‘bridge’ for communication to something unknown. It literally was a simple walk-in to a metaphysical shop where my mentor now, Jesse, said “You are an open portal and you need to protect yourself.”

I always refer to this moment as my Harry Potter moment because what does one do with that sort of information? And that’s how it all began.

My love for tarot, my fascination for crystals, my introduction to yoga, my healing process of becoming a Master Reiki Healer, my passion for teaching others and most of all for continuing to ‘bridge’ my knowledge, my experience and my authentic life to help those that cross my path.

All of that required one thing,

And that was trust.

trusted every intuitive nudge, every sign from my angels, every life lesson as it came, every individual that came into my life at the right time at the right moment to better guide me.

How does one make changes in their life when they’re falling apart and they’ve hit rock bottom? A mother of three kids, no financial stability to create a foundation for her own home with her kids and in the middle of a divorce…It was the scariest life lesson I went through.

But I trustedit.

trustedit so much because if I didn’t, that would have required me to quit. To be complacent and to settle for less.

And that’s how I became a Light Warrior.

An individual who despite of all of the letdowns, disappointments, grudges, heartbreaks, stress and having lost friendships, relationships and lovers.

That individual still rises.

That individual is not a quitter.

That individual, actually, understands what their worth is.

What their value is.

And most of all they learn to TRUST.

So I welcome you into my world of magic, a world that consists of self-love, a world of discovering who you are and to not be fearful of change.

That is what Rubi Readings is all about.

This is my platform where I will not hold back, where I will stay true to my authentic self, where I will be very proud of my process, where I will show everyone that change is good and most of all that they have someone like myself who is supporting them, guiding them and loving them unconditionally.

I am providing this space so that

YOU can see

YOUR worth,

YOUR value

And that you actually don’t have to settle for less.

And when searching for the light at the end of the tunnel that you actually genuinely believe it is an enlightening process.

In this life you will always have options.

And if at one point that option is no longer showing your worth then you simply make a change

And you trust it.

What is Self Love?

DSC_2886.jpg

Self-Love…

We all get excited when we say the word ‘self' love’ because we know it consists of taking baths, getting manicure/pedicures and the occasional alone time.

I like to take self love to another level.

Self love consists of deeper emotional maintenance. Taking the time to discover personal fears, facing traumas, releasing baggage and topping it with the occasional meltdown while watching Eat Pray Love. There’s nothing deeper than falling in love with yourself and I’m sorry but you absolutely cannot love yourself if you are not willing to uncover your deepest fears. It’s the moment that you take full responsibility of your personal amazing qualities as well as your flaws.

I believe that we mirror every relationship and friendship in the present moment. This means that if you are not feeling your greatest, unsure with your career, dealing with financial insecurities, angry about previous ex’s and you walk into a bar, guess what? You will immediately get attracted to somebody with those same qualities. The connection will be instant because you both recognize what your soul is going through. So, is this fate? Perhaps. Is it something that will be long lasting? Most likely not. Why?

Because we are meant to meet the right people at the right time to EVOLVE. This means that this amazing person who seemed so perfect at the time, who made you laugh and made you feel so connected will eventually become just an ordinary person. Because the second you start to work on yourself just a little more you might just outgrow that person. If one day you decide it’s the appropriate time to work on your financial insecurities you might just realize that your person who you considered your soulmate is more financially unstable than you. You probably had that ‘a-ha moment’ and realized what your passion is and changed your career and all of a sudden you realize that the person you were dating is still at a loss in their career and so all of a sudden you are no longer attracted to their lack of drive.

Is there hope? Yes. You better cross your fingers that they work on themselves or consider that relationship a life lesson.

This is why Self Love is so important!

EVERY individual should be working on themselves to keep improving, to keep evolving, to keep understanding what their soul is trying to tell them.

Because, yes, that person that you met at the bar can potentially be somebody who is worth your time and worthy of seeing your best version of yourself but only IF they understand how to love themselves too.

How Do You Practice Self Love?

  • Listen to inspirational podcasts

  • Read personal development books

  • Surround yourself with like-minded individuals

  • Ignore those who are not on your path

  • Eliminate negative people out of your life

  • Attend personal development workshops/seminars

  • Work on your Spiritual Practice

  • Meditate a min. of 5-10 mins a day

  • Be consistent with a physical activity at least twice a week

  • Maintain a healthy diet

  • Take control of any bad habits (alcohol, smoking, sex)

  • Spend at least 2-4 hours a week of YOU time (undisturbed with silenced phone)

  • Spend quality time outdoors in nature to ground and center yourself

  • Develop your intuition

So the next time you decide to go out with your friends, take a look in your mirror and ask yourself

“Am I ready to meet somebody with the same qualities, same fears, same flaws and same insecurities as me?”

And really think twice about accepting that glass of cider. Because you might just realize a heartbreak later that your souls weren’t ready to love just yet.
